What is Opioid Treatment Accreditation Course (OTAC)?
OTAC Sessions are one-day hybrid workshops (in-person and online) held five times a year across various locations in NSW. Running from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, they are facilitated by experienced addiction medicine specialists and GPs with expertise in opioid treatment.
As the second step in the OTEP accreditation pathway, these sessions offer interactive training designed to build participants’ knowledge, and confidence in prescribing opioid agonist treatments. Each session concludes with a multiple-choice assessment, which is required to complete the accreditation process.
Who can attend?
Medical practitioners and nurse practitioners who are seeking accreditation to prescribe opioid pharmacotherapy, or who are interested in learning more about Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT), are eligible to attend OTAC.
What is the mandatory pre-course activity?
Completion of the Fundamentals of Opioid Treatment module, a 1-hour online course, is required prior to attending the OTAC course. To complete it, please sign up or log in to the OTEP online learning platform and finish the module prior to the OTAC course begins.
Not a Medical or Nurse Practitioner?
You're welcome to register on the OTEP online learning platform . There, you can access the self-paced OTAC online course and other educational modules. Upon completion, you'll receive a certificate of participation.
Unable to attend OTAC in person or via Zoom?
You may complete the self-paced OTAC online modules instead. To begin, please sign up or log in to the OTEP online learning platform. You must first complete the Fundamentals of Opioid Treatment module — a 1-hour online course — which is a prerequisite for OTAC.
After completing the OTAC modules, you will be required to pass a multiple-choice exam with a score of 65% or higher to receive a letter of completion.
